Study of 24Mg by a 16O + α + α model
Description
The structure of 24Mg is studied by a microscopic 16O + α + α model with calculation of the relative motions of this system. The positive and negative parity levels are calculated together with alpha and 8Be spectroscopic factors and B(E2) values. It is found that the cluster model for 24Mg is successful in interpretation of all the low-lying bands except for the K/sup π/ = 3-(7.63) band. Also the 04+ and 05+ levels, which have a cluster structure, are obtained. 9 references
