Magnetic properties and magnetocaloric effect in Gd(Ni1-xCox)3 intermetallic compounds
- 1. August Chelkowski Institute of Physics, University of Silesia, Uniwersytecka 4, 40-007 Katowice (Poland)
Description
In this paper, we present magnetic properties of polycrystalline Gd(Ni1-xCox)3 intermetallic compounds. The partial replacement of Ni by Co atoms causes the increase in Curie temperature TC. As it was also shown saturation magnetization of the examined samples monotonically decreases with increasing Ni/Co substitution. The magnetocaloric effect (MCE) for several samples with TC values around the room temperature was estimated from magnetic isotherms. The decrease in magnetic entropy connected with the increase in magnetic disorder in 3d magnetic sublattice has been observed.
