Description
Theory and modeling of materials performance under fusion irradiation conditions should encompass the fundamental mechanisms of high-energy interactions of constituent atoms, displacement damage, micro-structural and micro-chemical evolution, and the resultant macroscopic property changes. Recent progress in computer simulation of displacement damage sequences, especially by molecular dynamics is reviewed with classical theories of displacement damage and irradiation parameters. Rate theory approaches of microstructure evolution and its correlation with the macroscopic property changes of irradiated materials were also reviewed. (author)
