The bill would amend the Energy Reorganization Act of 1974 to create an independent Nuclear Safety Board. This Board is to promote nuclear safety by conducting independent investigations of events at facilities licensed by the US NRC; reviewing the licensing and regulatory practices of the US NRC; recommending the NRC improvements in licensing and related regulatory practices; and informing Congress of its investigation findings and recommendations
