After a recall of chemical radiation effects on DNA, the authors study the indirect radiation effects on purine and pyrimidine desoxy-2' ribonucleosides used as DNA models, the direct radiation effects on pyrimidine and purine nucleosides and finally the radio-induced radical oxidation on DNA bases
