Experimental results from present-day high field tokamaks

Creators

  • 1. Associazione EURATOM-CNEN sulla Fusione, Centro di Frascati, Italy

Description

The aims and scientific motivations of high magnetic field Tokamaks at the begining of the world-wide effort on toroidal diffused pinches are recalled. They are compared with the experimental results obtained in actual machines like ALCATOR-A at MIT and FT at CNEN in Frascati. The importance of these results with regard to the goal of nuclear fusion is emphasized, especially considering the high density regimes achieved and the phenomenological scaling laws derived from them
