CORBA (Common Object Request Broker Architecture) compliant tools for high energy physics data analysis

Description

We describe a system that given an IDL specification for a subroutine can generate the code required for autonomous execution of the routine in a distributed heterogeneous computing environment using the COBRA standard. This allows users to interactively modify the network of tools to either change the functionality or to redistribute the tools among the available processors without modifying any code. We show that the additional system overhead is small in comparison to the data movement time. Additionally, a prototype Graphical User Interface (GUI) to configure and control the network of tools has been written. (author)
