Final licence for Hanau MOX facility
Description
The new plant will incorporate a high degree of automation and remote control, remote control handling of plutonium and mixed oxide fuel and increased radiation protection of manufacturing personnel. Increased MOX fuel fabrication capacity will reduce the cost. Plutonium recycling which has been shown possible from MOX fuels will then become more favourable economically. The status of mixed oxide fuels is presented and the production process is outlined. (author)
