Nuclear reactor with shutdown device reacting to the neutron flux
Description
The quick shutdown rod consists of boron carbide (B4C). It contains fission and breeder material (Pu 239, U 233, U 238 and Th 232) in a mixing ratio, so that with a constant neutron flux, as much fission material as breeding material is created, so that the quantity of fission material, which reacts with neutrons and therefore generates heat, remains the same for long periods of time. Der Schnellabschaltstab besteht aus Borkarbid (B4C). Er enthaelt Spalt- und Brutstoffe (Pu-239, U-233, U-238 und Th-232) in einem Mischungsverhaeltnis, dass bei konstantem Neutronenfluss immer so viel Spaltstoff aus Brutstoff entsteht, dass die mit Neutronen reagierende und damit waermeerzeugende Spaltstoffmenge ueber lange Zeitraeume gleich bleibt.
