Finite element analysis of reinforced cement concrete staircase

  • 1. Department of Civil Engineering, ZH CET, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh (India)

Description

Staircases are the integral part of the multi-storey buildings governing vertical movements of the users. Very few studies had been performed to observe local failure of stairs. This study aims to fulfill this gap. A dog-legged RCC staircase having three flights, had been analyzed to identify critical zones. Numerical simulation had been carried out using FEA software AbaquslCAE. A number of analysis had been performed considering elastic and plastic behavior of material in the iterations of FEA to get the actual behavior of the model. Results had been compared and concluded with the observations of open available literature. (author)
