Pulse radiolysis study on aqueous concentrated solutions

  • 1. Univ. of Tokyo, Tokyo (Japan). Dept. of Quantum Engineering and Systems Science

Description

Radiolysis of aqueous concentrated solution of HNO3, H2SO4, H3PO4, HClO3, HClO4 has been investigated by pulse radiolysis. Solute radicals are selectively produced through two formation processes. The fast one is corresponding to a direct action of radiation to the solute and the slow one to a reaction of the H abstraction by OH radical from molecular acids and/or protonated anions. In chloric and perchloric acid solutions, only the fast process is observable and new absorption bands appeared, which were identified as ClO3. and tentatively HClO4+., respectively.
