Replacing reactor control servomechanisms by digital

Description

Two natural uranium, graphite-moderated, carbon dioxide cooled (Magnox) reactors at Trawsfynydd power station, North Wales, were commissioned in 1965 and run with a designed channel gas outlet (CGO) temperature of 370 C. The original CGO temperature control equipment (1964) has been replaced by a DEC PDP11/73 computer-controlled system using own process control language (CUTLASS). The sector servo system, plant simulation, temperature measurement and system tests are described. 1 fig
