Structure of zirconium-rich alloys of the Zr-Ru system

Description

The composition of the Zr-(0.5-12) at. % Ru binary alloys has been studied. It has been established that the highest solubility of ruthenium in β-zirconium amounts to 11 at. % at the eutectic temperature of 1,250 deg C while the solubility in α-zirconium works out to about 1 at. % at 600 deg C. Ruthenium brings down the temperature (α reversible β) of zirconium transformation. A ω-phase, having the following lattice periods: 4.997, c=3.134 A, c/a=0.627, has been found in the alloys hardened at 1,000 and 800 deg C
