Investigation of plutonium and americium behaviour at vitrification of model high-level radioactive wastes with preparation of phosphate glass-like composition of different microcomposition

Description

Radionuclide behaviour under inclusion of liquid model high-level radioactive wastes (HLRAW) into phosphate compositions is studied. Using plutonium-239 and americium-241 as an example one shows that plutonium and americium distribution within the volume of solidified materials is determined by the composition of the used liquid HLRAW and by the selected matrix, as well as, by conditions of plutonium and americium distribution along the volume of synthesized glass-blocks, phase composition of HLRAW component base heterogeneous phases formed in melts are determined using α-radiography, γ-spectroscopy, X-ray phase and other methods of analysis. The results of the conducted studies point out to the limited solubility of the studied plutonium in phosphate glass-like compositions. 17 refs., 1 fig., 8 tabs
