Description
The invention relates to a process and apparatus for adjusting the energy of ions of different masses in a mass spectrometer. Specifically, it concerns a mass spectrometer having a gas inlet and ionisation space. A multipole mass filter includes several electrodes. A focusing system connects the ionisation space and the mass filter. Provision is made for applying to the electrodes a mass adjusting voltage combining a high frequency voltage and a d.c. voltage of increasing amplitude, so that the ions of a pre-determined mass can be selected. This system also includes a device connected to the electrodes, sensitive to the mass adjusting voltage and enabling the energy of the ions to be adjusted to that of the selected ions, depending on the mass of the ions, by modifying the difference in potential between the ionisation volume and the mean potential of the electrodes

L'invention concerne un procede et un appareil de reglage de l'energie des ions de masses differentes dans un spectrometre de masse. Plus precisement, elle concerne un spectrometre de masse qui comporte une entree de gaz et un volume d'ionisation. Un filtre multipolaire de masse comporte plusieurs electrodes. Un dispositif de focalisation assure le couplage du volume d'ionisation et du filtre de masse. Un dispositif est destine a appliquer aux electrodes une tension de reglage de masse combinant une tension a haute frequence et une tension continue d'amplitude croissante, afin que les ions de masse predeterminee soient choisis. Ce dispositif comprend aussi un dispositif relie aux electrodes, sensible a la tension de reglage de masse et permettant le reglage de l'energie des ions a celle des ions choisis, en fonction de la masse des ions, par modification de la difference de potentiel entre le volume d'ionisation et le potentiel moyen des electrodesAdditional details
