Solvoluminescence from γ-irradiated lithium chloride in non-aqueous solvents
Description
Solvoluminescence (SL) is the name proposed for the emission of a glow during the dissolution of crystals with colour centres in non-aqueous solvents, by analogy with aquoluminescence. SL has been observed during the dissolution of γ-irradiared LiCl (violet coloured) in dimethyl formamide, N-methyl formamide, methyl cyanide and ethylene diamine. Corresponding oscilloscopic patterns of the SL signals and spectra obtained with a photomultiplier and interference filters are presented
