The Tricastin and Marcoule nuclear sites: an important impact on more than 200 communes - Insee Rhone-Alpes, Analyses Newsletter nr 188, December 2012

Description

This publication first proposes and comments a map which illustrates the share of the nuclear sector in terms of jobs in the 208 communes located around the Tricastin and Marcoule sites. It outlines that the nuclear sector supports various sectors of the local economy, and more particularly some specific industrial sectors (machine and equipment repair and installation, engineering, technical control and analysis, electrical installations). It also proposes an overview of local indirect jobs, outlines that population growth is related to site location, that jobs are steady with high incomes. However, the local professional insertion of young people is sometime difficult, and the territory, despite its industrial sites, does not generate enough jobs for its active population.
