Description

Ever since the pioneering work of Elliott (Elliott J P 1958 London Series A 245 128, 562), quadrupole collectivity in deformed nuclei has been economically described in terms of SU3 symmetry. Microscopic SU3 symmetry is not present in the deformed intrinsic states of n nucleons in the abnormal-parity single-particle states ja. However, such (ja)n states do possess some SU3-symmetry-like properties as shown in this work. (author)
