ITEP proton-ion accelerating complex main ring magnetic system modification

Description

The paper presents the calculation results of modernization of the magnetic system of ITEP accelerator main ring. Modernization of the magnetic system boils down to a partial variation of configuration of magnet interpolar gap by shimming of 2/3 of the magnet length (≅1.4 m). The shimmed part will represent a rotating magnet with plane poles and homogeneous field, while focusing will be realized by the magnet nonshimmed part. 2 refs.; 1 fig
