An approximation for black-body x-ray transport in air

  • 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., TN (USA)

Description

A simplified method is presented for approximating the air-transported x-ray spectrum from nuclear detonations in the atmosphere. Computational time is reduced such that a desk-top computer can provide results that match, within ±10% for a wide range of conditions, Monte Carlo results which require 5-10 times greater computation time on a Cray.
