Risk matrix and FMEA coupled for safety analysis of medical practices with ionizing radiations

Among the most widely used methods of risk analysis for medical practices with radiation Ionizing agents are the Risk Matrix and the Analysis of Failure Modes and Effects. Two big projects They represent these methods. The first corresponds to the Forum of Radiological Regulatory Bodies and Nuclear (FORO-IAEA) and the second to TG-100, of the American Association of Medical Physicists (AAPM). Developed within the framework of the directives of the Bonn Call to Action, the program Cuban SECURE-MR-FMEA, constitutes a prospective risk analysis system that includes the comprehensive and coupled management of both methods, with the published traditional capabilities in the bibliographies representative of them, as well as a series of facilities that automate new types of applications, such as importance, sensitivity, graphing of results, input of data, comprehensive documentation and monitoring of the practice risk. For the design of these capabilities have also been used, as a reference, the experiences of analysis applications of safety in nuclear power plants. Starting from the recognition of the necessary expertise to generate the risk patterns of both traditional variants of radiation treatment and practices doctors with a high degree of technological complexity, the system includes, as references, databases for more than 15 practices related to teletherapy, brachytherapy, diagnostic nuclear medicine and therapeutic, as well as models for the transport and production of radiopharmaceuticals.
