Asymptotic behaviour of the charge exchange cross sections

  • 1. Moskovskij Inzhenerno-Fizicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

In the framework of nonrelativistic quantum mechanics collisions at high energy in the system of three ''elementary'' particles are considered in the paper. In the collisions two particles in the initial as well as in the final states are bound, i. e. they form a ''compound'' particle: 1+(2+3)→(1+2)+3, where figures 1, 2, 3 are the numbers of the particles and symbols (1+2) and (2+3) designate corresponding compound particles. The ''elementary'' particles are those the interaction of which is determined by pair potentials, in this sence nuclei in atomic collisions may be considered as ''elementary'' particles. Charge exchange cross sections are calculated into arbitrary ns- or np-states on collision between a ''heavy'' charged particle (proton, atomic nucleus with Z approximately 1) and hydrogen atoms at high energies. A simple method for obtaining the asymptotics wave functions of the of two-particle systems in the impulse approximation at p→infinity directly through the Fourier-component asymptotic of the U tilde (p) potential is presented
