Geological deep repository sectorial plan stage 1 - Review of requirements on feasibility and implementation
Description
This comprehensive report published by the Swiss Nuclear Safety Inspectorate ENSI reviews the requirements placed on the technical feasibility and implementation as part of the process of choosing a site for the implementation of a geological deep repository for radioactive wastes. This expert review examines the requirements placed on the proposed host rock strata and examines various factors concerning the neighbouring rock layers. The characteristics of the possible host rock layers are looked at with respect to their use for the implementation of repositories for high-level and low-level radioactive wastes. Further, the possible host rock layers for these repositories are characterised and discussed in detail as are the possible locations for these repositories.
