Acceleration methods for the not-so-near future
Description
According to our present understanding, High Energy Physics in the 21st century will require colliding-beam luminosities increasing with the square of the c.m. energy. To obtain such performance within currently assumed constraints of cost, power consumption and size, new concepts and methods of acceleration will be needed. Some of the many ideas under discussion at the present time are briefly reviewed. 5 refs
