Obtention of subcriticality margin for criticality analysis methodology of CTMSP

  • 1. Centro Tecnologico da Marinha em Sao Paulo (CTMSP), SP (Brazil)

Description

Full text: As a part of criticality safety analysis methodology validation, this work describes the activities carried out in order to obtain a subcriticality safety margin associated to calculational tools adopted at CTMSP. The subcriticality safety margin is obtained considering a statistical uncertainties, systematic bias and additional safety margin due to the very large range of different criticality experiments. Therefore, a 154 critical experiments were selected considering the applicability criteria. The range of applicability covers a different mixtures, compounds and enrichment, such as UO2, UO2F2, uranyl nitrate, TCAU, UF6, UF4, metallic uranium and U3O8 in different geometric shapes. The results of 154 critical experiments calculations, was obtained a 0,9332 as subcriticality safety margin to be considered in the CTMSP criticality safety analysis methodology. (author)
