Description

The 249Cf(180,4n)263106 reaction was investigated with the aim of obtaining the α-active isotope of the 106 element . A cold (-5O deg C) target from an Al foil with a sprayed layer of CfF3 was used. Simultaneously with the reaction of 106 element production observed are the following α-decay reactions: 263106 → 259104 (approximately 1s), 259104 → 255102(3.2 s), 255 102 → ... (3 min). The α-active elements were identified by the time correlation and the energy of α-particles. The lifetime of the new α-activity of 263106 was found to be O.9 +-0.2 s. The isotope 260104 was obtained in the 249Bk (15N, 4n) 260104 reaction
