The influence of electron beam active zone on a shape and quality weld bead

Description
The paper presents the results of investigation of correlation between operating parameters of electron beam welding machine WS-15 kW/100 kV and the parameters of the welds. It was shown that the coefficient of electron beam energy consumption can be used to predict the quality and shapes of welds. It can be stated that if this coefficient is near the critical value the parallel edges of welds are obtained. If this value is higher than critical value, the welds with wedge shapes are obtained. Finally, if this coefficient is lower than critical value the defects of active zone in the weld can be observed. (author). 7 refs, 6 figs
