Review and summary of the LLNL Waste Manage Hazard Assessment project
Description
The Waste Management Hazard Assessment project at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory has been concentrated on study of hazards resulting from toxic material (either man-made or natural) buried underground. Its objective has been the development of rationale to support and assist in waste management programs. The project began in June 1979 and is scheduled for completion in September 1982. This paper presents a review and summary of highlights and accomplishments of the project. These include: development of the geotoxicity hazard index, analog modeling methodology, and various perspectives on the nature of risks related to radioactive waste management
