Relocation of molten fuel determination of the interfacial resistance

Creators

Description

Analysis of molten UO2 freezing experiments is performed and it is shown that heat transfer between UO2 and structures is about one order of magnitude lower than the one that can be calculated with usual turbulent forced convection correlation. This reduction is attributed to the presence of an interfacial resistance between the melt and the cold wall. An evaluation of this resistance is then proposed. (author)
