Determination of spatial distributions of the total dose in combined teletherapy and brachytherapy. 2

Description

A special use of the computer program represented in the first communication about this topic, permits to determine the total dose distribution of brachytherapy after several fractions with different positions of the applicator as well as the resulting total distribution for different methods of irradiation. For the combined treatment of not operated cervix carcinoma the tuning between teletherapy and brachytherapy is very important. The influence of excentric applicator positions on the total dose distribution is studied. In conventional brachytherapy adaptations between tele- and curietherapy finally are only compromises. For the short-time afterloading technique an exact determination of the applicator site and thus a calculation of the dose distribution actually applied in every application can be realized. Prerequisite is the knowledge of the individual topography for each application. On the necessity to adapt the individual therapeutic methods because of the too high exposure of radiosensitive neighbouring organs (bladder, rectum, ureter, neck of the femur) can be decided in particular
