Influence of electrode biasing on edge plasma parameters in the KT-5C

  • 1. China Science and Technology Univ., Hefei (China). Dept. of Modern Physics

Description

The radial electric field of the plasma in the KT-5C tokamak is controlled using electrode biasing. it is found that with positive bias, radial electrical field changes from a low negative well to a modest positive hill, and an enhanced E x B shear layer appears. Plasma parameters are steepened near the shear layer, and the plasma poloidal flow speed increases greatly and changes its direction from electron diamagnetic to that of ion diamagnetic drift, these changes lead to amelioration of the poloidal transport in the plasma edge and improvement of the plasma confinement
