Compensation of peak loads in power systems by high-power NPP units

Description

Various schemes of compensation of the peak power loads using NPP power units are considered: the schemes with feedwater heating by effluent gases from steam turbines, those with intermediate superheating by effluent gases, as well as the schemes with condensate heating and intermediate superheating by effluent gases and schemes with switching-off of high-pressure heaters and compensation of underheating with additional heat supply from the primary circuit. The conclusion is made that the use of NPP power units in the basis-peak regime, when the basic loads or similar ones are compensated in the main operational time, and in certain periods (in the power system deficient time) loading schedule peaks are compensated at the expense of reactor and turbine operation at increased regimes, seems quite perspective for economic reasons
