Description
The data taking system of an experiment to search for µ − e conversion is going to be developed based on the common network technology. The data taking system needs two kinds of networks. One is a front-end network. This network bundles around twenty front-end devices which have 1 Gbps optical network and send to a front-end computer. The other network is a back-end network. The back-end network collects all event fragments from the front-end computers using 10 Gbps network equipment. Nowadays, a company FS.COM provides a low cost 1G/10G optical network switch. We evaluated this network switch whether it works as the front-end switch of the data taking network. On the other hand, we evaluated a switchless direct connection configuration for the back-end network. The back-end computer has ten optical 10 Gbps interfaces and can connect up to ten front-end computers directly by the 10 Gbps optical network. We evaluated these two kinds of networks and confirmed that they work well. The throughput of the event building achieved 1 GB/s. We will report the network evaluation and its results. (author)
