A radiometric method of analysis of natural radioactive elements by gamma-ray spectrometry and application to granitic rock samples

  • 1. Geological Survey of Japan, Kawasaki, Kanagawa (Japan)

Description

A method of analysis of natural radioactive elements by using γ ray spectrometer was developed in order to apply even to the case in which the radioactive elements are not in equilibrium. The method was applied to the analysis of the granitic rock samples collected from the central part of Tottori Prefecture, where sedimentary uranium deposits are distributed. It is concluded that so far as the samples taken from the area around the uranium deposits concern, uranium contents decrease rapidly with increasing weathering effect. (author)
