Positron-hydrogen atom S-wave coupled channel scattering at low energies

Description

A fully quantum mechanical, three dimensional scattering calculation in Adiabatically adjusting Principle axis Hyperspherical coordinates has been carried out for the three-body problem of positron-hydrogen atom. Total angular momentum of zero partial cross sections are reported for energies below the ionization threshold. The elastic phase shifts below the positronium formation threshold are in reasonable agreement with the accepted values. In the energy range between the positronium formation threshold and the first inelastic threshold the ground state positronium formation cross section is in good agreement with the best previous calculation. Resonances occur in the cross sections below thresholds of the H(n=2), Ps(n=2), and H(n=3) inelastic scattering channels confirming their existence and positions. Reported for the first time are partial cross sections into the excited state scattering channels. New partial cross sections out of the positronium ground state into inelastic channels are also shown
