Electron impact ionization cross section measurement of lithium-like barium ions

  • 1. Lawrence Livermore National Lab., CA (USA)
  • 2. Lawrence Berkeley Lab., CA (USA)

Description

The electron impact ionization cross section of Li-like Ba53+ has been measured at 22 keV using an electron beam ion trap. The measurement makes use of a novel technique, which is discussed in detail. We find a value somewhat higher than predicted by theory
