Copper cementation on metallic zirconium in fluorine containing solutions
Description
Consideration is being given to results of investigation into zirconium interaction with aqueous solutions of copper fluoride. Experimental and calculation kinetics data show that copper cementation on metallic zirconium in stoichiometric CuF2 solutions proceeds according to the first order reaction. The values of experimental activation energy point to the mixed kinetics character. The order of cementation reaction becomes fractional and equal to 0.5 when using CuF2 solutions containing HF. The elevated solution acidity intensifies the rate of competing process of hydrogen ion discharge
