Design, construction and calibration of plane-parallel ionization chambers at the SSDL of Iran

  • 1. Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Karaj (Iran, Islamic Republic of). Secondary Standard Dosimetry Lab.

Description

Two plane-parallel ionization chambers (PPICs) have been designed, constructed, tested and calibrated at the SSDL of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. The chambers are calibrated in Co-60 and electron beams in comparison with the responses of a reference calibrated cylindrical chamber and a commercial type PPIC. This paper presents the design characteristics and the results of calibration of the PPICs as well as dose determination of electron beams by air kerma based and absorbed dose to water based dosimetry procedures using these chambers.
