Electroweak physics at CDF

Description

CDF has recently completed a run in which over 4.4 pb-1 of data was collected. Preliminary results in several areas of electroweak physics are presented including measurements of cross section times branching ratio for σ* Br(W → e ν) = 2.06 nb +/-0.04 (stat) +/-0.13 (sys) +/-0.31 (lum) and σ* Br (Z → ee) = 0.197 nb+/- 0.012 (stat) +/- 0.010 (sys) +/- 0.030 (lum). A search for lepton/quark compositeness has been carried out with 95% confidence level limits on the scale parameters of a LL contact coupling (qqee) of λ- > 1.8 TeV and λ+ > 1.5 TeV. Measurement of sin2(θW) from the forward/backward asymmetry in ZO → ee decays yields a value of sin2(θW) = 0.216 +/- 0.015 +/- 0.010. A measurement of the asymmetry in q * η in W → (μ,e) ν decays, where q is charge of the lepton and η is pseudorapidity, distinguishes between different choices of the parton distribution functions at Q2 = MW2
