Assessment of a serum tumour marker for carcinoma of the pancreas: the carbohydrate antigen C.A. 19-9

Description

A radio-immunological assay with monoclonal antibodies was used to measure the C 19-9 antigen in 51 patients to determine its diagnostic value in cancer of the pancreas. The results show that the C 19-9 antigen is a good marker for carcinoma of the pancreas and that it can be commonly used

Abstract (French)

L'antigene C 19-9 a ete dose chez cinquante et un malades, pour aider au diagnostic de cancer du pancreas. La technique utilisee est radio-immunologique, avec anticorps monoclonal. Les resultats permettent de montrer que l'antigene C 19-9 est un bon marqueur tumoral du pancreas, utilisable en pratique courante
