Challenges and opportunities for wind energy offshore in Brazil

The scenario of global warming due to the emission of greenhouse gases, has become, increasingly, the object of study in several sectors. Energy efficiency combined with sustainability for power generation are key opportunities to solution and answer to the needs of adaptation to environmental problems and conventional means of non-renewable energy use. Wind energy presents itself as an alternative to the various challenges resulting from the electric generation. The application in relation to the challenges and opportunities for offshore wind generation in Brazil will be here the study focus. For the sequence about the research with the clear objective of demonstrating the scenario challenges and opportunities. Through research to take advantage of the offshore wind potential and available space of this technology, comparing non-renewable energy practices against climate change, deepening the issues of regulation and licensing, and offshore wind generation efficiency. The methodology during the proposed study used a bibliographic procedure and presents the evolution of wind energy in Brazil and technology concepts, together the phases of wind project. The responses of this research focused the existing expectations and opportunities on the Brazilian coast and the global successful experiences in special the European market. (author)
