Search for light-by-light scattering in PbPb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV
- 1. Nuclear Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)
Description
The elastic light-by-light (LbyL) scattering, γγ → γγ is a pure quantum mechanical process that proceeds at leading order in the fine structure constant, O(α4), via virtual box diagrams containing charged particles. We present the ongoing study of LbyL scattering, γγ → γγ using Pb-Pb collisions, recorded by the CMS experiment in 2015 at √sNN = 5.02 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 388 μb-1
