Statistical dynamics of interacting drift waves
Description
A model problem of the interacting drift waves was studied. The model consists of a system of three modes, with complex frequencies, coupled by an appropriate quadratic nonlinearity. The three-mode Navier-Stokes problem is discussed. The final energy states predicted by the direct-interaction approximation are in reasonable agreement with the exact statistical results. The present result is compared with the prediction by the random phase approximation. (Kato, T.)
