IR emission spectra of complex U(4) and U(6) oxychloride species in molten alkali metal halides

Description
IR emission spectra of molten mixtures of alkali metal halides, containing interaction products of uranium tetrachloride and uranyl dichloride with oxygen and barium oxide, have been recorded. The composition and structure of oxychloride groupings of tetra- and hexavalent uranium formed in the mixtures studied have been ascertained. A high-temperature optical installation on the basis of the Specord M-80 spectrometer, which expands essentially the range of recording of the melts IR spectra, is described. 18 refs.; 5 figs.; 1 tab
