System of the multiwire drift chambers for wide-aperture spectrometers

Description
The system of large-size drift chambers with working area 2.5 x 1.9 m2 and 1.5 x 1.5 m2 is described. Operation of the chambers for two gaseous mixtures is studied. The chambers efficiency dependences on high voltage on cathodes and potential wires, as well as time spectra are presented. Spatial resolution approximately 180 μm for direct tracks in the 8-mm drift gap is obtained through the drift chamber system

Описана система широкоформатных дрейфовых камер с рабочей площадью 2,5 х 1,9 м2 и 1,5 х 1,5 м2. Изучена работа камер для двух газовых смесей, приводятся зависимости эффективности камер от высокого напряжения на катодах и потенциальных проволоках, а также временные спектры. С помощью системы дрейфовых камер получено пространственное разрешение примерно 180 мкм для прямых треков в 8-миллиметровом дрейфовом промежуткеAdditional details
