Formation of defect structure in pure quartz glass under irradiation in reactor core

  • 1. Inst. Yadernoj Fiziki, Tashkent (Uzbekistan)

Description

Aim of the work is clarification both radiation defects nature and their accumulation kinetics in high-clean quartz glass cooled by water at large flows and radiation doses in WWR-SM reactor active zone. SiO2 samples with impurities less 10-4 weight % were irradiated in water in the reactor core center at fast neutrons flows 1.15-0.14·1015 n/cm2·s within range 2-100 h at temperature not above 40 deg. C. Adsorption spectra and photoluminescence in the range 200-900 nm were read. Examination of induced adsorption and luminescence of high-clean quarts glass under compound short-term gamma-rays and reactor neutrons conduct to detention on prevalent contribution of gamma-radiation in the formation of Frenkel pairs
