Present status of accelerator based neutron moderators

  • 1. Hokkaido Univ., Sapporo (Japan). Faculty of Engineering

Description

The high power proton accelerator facility is being constructed as the joint project of KEK and JAERI. This facility is used for multi-purposes, which include a neutron-meson, a particle-nuclear physics and nuclear transformation facilities. Here, we mention present status of design studies on the neutron source, and issues concerning to the extraction of very cold neutrons. Furthermore, some neutronic data of new moderators, namely, partially deuterated moderator materials, are presented. (author)
