Model studies on the effect of topographic irregularity and geological inhomogeneity in dynamic behaviors of ground

  • 1. Kajima Corp., Tokyo (Japan)

Description

The purpose is to clarify experimentally the influence of various kinds of ground irregularity on the characteristics of ground motions. As the response is complicated by scattering due to irregularity, a study on the effects is significant for the aseismic design of nuclear power plants. The paper discusses the dynamic behavior of irregular ground in our shaking table tests and the corresponding analyses, because there have been few efforts to experimentally investigate irregular ground compared to the many analytical investigations.
