Neutron scintillators and their applications
Description
Novel neutron scintillators developed by Tokuyama Corporation and their applications are presented. The neutron scintillators are composed of 6Li isotope to achieve excellent neutron detection efficiency and designed to reject unfavorable noise due to coexisting γ-rays. Those characteristics realize comparable performance with 3He detector, a gold standard of neutron detector for decades. Security instrument for nonproliferation of nuclear threat and real-time monitor for boron neutron capture therapy are presented as application examples. (author)
