Description
Strict regulations for different sectors and structural changes have led to continued reductions in emissions of most classical pollutants in Austria. The per capita emissions of SO2 and NOx are among the lowest of all member states of the European Union, but the NMVOC, CO, and NH3 are comparable to them. The main sources of emissions are industry, domestic sources, traffic and agriculture. Data (1999) and emissions trends (1990-1999) of SO2, NO2, NMVOC, CO, NH3, Cd, Hg, Pb, PAH and dioxins are given, including a comparison to other EU countries. Select information is provided about ambient air quality levels (ozone, NO2, health effects, SO2, CO, benzene, lead), acidification and eutrophication. Tables 8, Figs. 10. (nevyjel)
